Director Curd, Media Relations Director O’Harra.
Absent: Vice-President Astle,
Associate Justice Ramirez, Associate Justice Wittman, Chief Justice Bloomsburg,
Ernie Williams, Brandon Lytle, and Senate Secretary Myndie VanHorn.

Executive Communications
■ President
Smith- Welcome to your first official meeting of the retreat.
■ Media
Relations Director O’Harra- Advised that any announcements that go out from
this body go through him. Anything that goes out is usually approved by this
body. Keep in mind that the only student government members that can speak for
the senate are the Senate Majority Leader and Media Relations Director. Advised
that there is no longer a book exchange. The book exchange was changed to a
website www.lcscbooks.com. President
Smith added that this is the first time there has actually been some kind of book
selling vehicle for the fall semester.
■ Committees
Director Curd- Introduced himself. Advised that his job is to make sure that
the committees run smoothly. Would like to have everyone signed up for
committees by the end of the first week of school. Senators are required to be
on two internal and two external committees. If you have any questions you can
see him or President Smith. President Smith added that after this meeting they
would start signing up for committees. Media Relations Director O’Harra
reminded the Senate that they should be very careful when submitting quotes to
the Pathfinder. Make sure you don’t give a statement by yourself. When you are
corresponding with the Pathfinder CC: someone else. There is a chance you can
be misquoted and if you aren’t taking those precautions it is your word against
there’s. President Smith added that the Ethics Policy states that you should
not be speaking for the entire Senate. Be sure to state that it is your own
opinion when speaking in public forums such as the newspaper or student fee
hearing.
Judicial Communications
■ None present.
Committee Reports
Doc Sears Legacy Project:
President Smith reported that they were hoping to have it ready by the end of
last semester. Smith talked to the artist about a month ago. Found out that he
had just bought the supplies in July, when the money had been given to him in
April. Smith has decided to wait to schedule the dedication until the piece is
done. The artist has had some health issues.

New Business
■ Senate Bill 07-F001: ASLCSC 2007-08 Budget.
President Smith stated that the
reason he wrote the bill is that Vice-President Astle has not been sworn in.
Has spoken to Trudy Alva and she gave him the numbers for the year. Advised
that Student Government gave back some money last year as last year’s Student
Government negotiated with Administration to give money to Student Activities. The
enrollment projection is also down. Motion for friendly Senator Filler to
change bill to read “Bill 07-F001” second Senator Fragnella. Unanimous. Motion
to vote Senator McKee, second Senator Filler. Roll call vote: 7 Yes, 0 No, 0
Abstentions. Bill passed.
