Fourth Senate                                                       Second Regular Session

                                 In the Senate

                                 Senate Resolution #01-S012
                                 Authored By: Vice President Sonnen

Whereas: The Western Opera Theatre has been presented in the Lewis Clark
Valley for approximately 10 years.  In the year 2001 this opera will not
                be presented in the valley.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASLCSC SENATE:

Section 1: Because the opera will not be presented in the year 2001 students will
miss out on a culturally rich opportunity.

Section 2: Many classes that are beneficial to the core education of LCSC
students will not have access to performances such as the one offered
by the opera. (students get a reduced rate to the opera through a
                package
that is required within these core classes)

Section 3: The LCSC valley suffers due to the loss of a culturally rich
performance such as one of this magnitude.

Section 4: The Center for Arts and History consider all interests before
determining the need / benefit for programs such as the opera.

Section 5: This resolution will pass upon a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the
ASLCSC Senate and the signature of the ASLCSC President
