8          Whereas: The students of Lewis-Clark Sate College have expressed a desire and a      

9                          need to keep student fees as low as possible without taking away from         

10                        the academic and fiscal integrity of the school.

12        Whereas: On March 30, Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne signed into law House

13                        Bill 231 allowing State Colleges and Universities to charge Idaho      

14                        residents attending them tuition.

15                               

16        Whereas: This new law will give the administration of Lewis-Clark State College           

17                        greater freedom in spending the dollars brought in by the matriculation

18                        line item.

20        Whereas: Students are currently required to pay for health insurance through the

21                        College if they do not already have insurance through another provider.

23        Whereas: The current expected premiums for next years State mandated student

24                        insurance will be over $300.00 a semester.

26        THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASLCSC SENATE:

28        Section 1: If student fees at Lewis-Clark State College are to be increased that

29                        they be increased by no more than 3% or $51.00 of the $1696.00

30                        that was paid per semester for the 2004-2005 academic year.

32        Section 2: This resolution will pass upon a 2/3 majority vote of the

33                         ASLCSC Senate and the signature of the ASLCSC President.
