10 Whereas: Students who qualify for state administered
health insurance coverage
11 are determined by the state in which they
live that they are eligible for
12 and provided health insurance.
13
14 Whereas: Forcing students to buy insurance coverage that are eligible for state
15 administered because of an economic disadvantage, makes getting a
16 college education more difficult. This creates a larger economic
17 division for low income students to try to overcome and obtain an
18 education. This could make recruitment of new students and retention
19 of currents students more difficult for LCSC.
20
21 Whereas: Students who have health insurance are not required to use LCSC’s
22 Health Services; therefore, they are not required to be referred to a
23 doctor by Health Services.
24
25 Whereas: Students already
have a physician before coming to LCSC and do not
26 need a physician referral.
27
29 that is already provided free of charge by their state of residence.

35
36 Section
1: That LCSC and Health Services
continue to accept state administered
37 health insurance plans as comparable
health insurance coverage.
38
39 Section
2: This resolution will pass upon a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the
40 ASLCSC Senate and the signature of the
ASLCSC President.
