Whereas: The
ASLCSC is charged with making certain that student fee monies are being used to
benefit the students as effectively as possible.
Whereas: The
ASLCSC responds to student questions and objections about the allocation of fee
monies.
Whereas:
Some members of the student body have expressed strong feelings of
dissatisfaction with CampusCruiser
(known on campus as LCWarriorMail).
Whereas: A
significant portion of the student technology fee is spent annually to purchase
the license for CampusCruiser. (The
license fee for 2007-2008 is over $35,000.)
Whereas: The
ASLCSC wants to ensure that CampusCruiser provides the students with the best
value in a campus-wide email system.
Whereas: The
Information Technology Department has spent the previous three months
investigating alternatives to CampusCruiser.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASLCSC SENATE:
Section 1: That the LCWarriorMail committee and the
LCSC IT department begin the review of alternative email systems with
involvement from all campus constituents to provide an opportunity for an
improved and less expensive email system than is currently in place.
Section 2: That
ASLCSC should charge student committee members to work closely with other
members to review viable alternatives to CampusCruiser.
Section 3: That ASLCSC should request that the
committee produce a recommendation to the LCSC administration by the end of
December, 2007. This recommendation
should consist either of keeping CampusCruiser, or identifying the best
alternative to CampusCruiser
Section 4: This
resolution will pass upon a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the
ASLCSC Senate and
the signature of the ASLCSC President.
