                                              Resolution        #  05-F005

Whereas:          The ITPG-13 sub-committee was created for the purpose of assessing

the learning environment of LCSC and making recommendations

for improvements to the LC Campus.

Whereas:          The findings of the ITPG-13 sub-committee were that classrooms

with the greatest amount of technology available provided the best

                                learning environment.

Whereas:          Campus computer labs do not receive even distribution of funding

for technological upgrades, and due to high costs associated with

                                          printing, must charge for printing.

Whereas:          Majors requiring cutting edge technology, such as Information

Systems Analysis Technical & Industrial (ISATI) and Engineering

Technology, are losing enrollment due to antiquated equipment.

Whereas:          Implementing more technology on campus would not only benefit

current students, but would also facilitate teaching as well as

                                recruitment and retention of students.

Whereas:          It is important to remember that all Technical and Industrial students

pay money into the Student Technology Fee and deserve to see

some of  the money put into their programs.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASLCSC SENATE:

Section 1:         That the ITPG-13 committee continually strive for the

implementation and maintenance of campus technology.

Maintenance should consist of using “Deep Freeze” technology to

                                assure proper functioning computers.

Section 2:         That the ITPG-13 committee look for ways to fund campus labs,

such as the Math Lab and Learning Resource Center, that have

traditionally not received new equipment, as well as majors like

                               ISATI and Engineering Technology.

Section 3:         That the ITPG-13 committee re-direct a small portion of the line

item fee to subsidize lab printing costs for students.

Section 4:         That the ITPG-13 committee put more general access computers

around campus with secure logons to assure that they are being

utilized by LCSC students and faculty.

Section 5:         That the ITPG-13 committee allows for the proper distribution of

Student Technology Fees to be utilized by all students, Academic

as well as the School of Technology.

Section 6:         This resolution will pass upon a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the

ASLCSC Senate and the signature of the ASLCSC President.
