Warriors #1 Again

Lewiston, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors remain at the top of the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Tuesday, April 10th. L-C has been ranked number one since April 20, 1999.

The Warriors (32-8) recorded 21 first-place votes and registered 667 total points, the same as last week. L-C went 3-1 this past week, dropping a 1-0 decision at home against Gonzaga, Wednesday, April 4th. That was the fist time LCSC has been shutout at home since April 19, 1994, also against Gonzaga. The Warriors then swept a pair of home games from Central Washington, and then defeated the Wildcats on the road Sunday and Monday (Monday’s game does not count in the poll).

The rest of the top five remains relatively unchanged again. Oklahoma City (40-9), ranked second, received four first-place votes. Birmingham-Southern (27-7) also held its position at third, and picked up one first-place vote. Auburn-Montgomery (36-7) moves up one spot to #4 while Flagler College (36-6) of St. Augustine, FL moves into the #5 position in the poll.

Region I teams that are in the polls are as follows: #25 Western Oregon (24-8) slipped four spots in the poll. Albertson is ranked #35 and British Columbia is ranked #45.

The Warriors host NCAA Division I-member, Washington State University (12-21), Tuesday, April 10th, at Harris Field, at 6:00 PM. LCSC will then hit the road and take on instate rival Albertson, Thursday and Friday in Caldwell, ID, and then return home to face the Coyotes on Saturday and Sunday.
