Warriors Fall to #2

LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors are in unfamiliar territory in the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Tuesday, April 17th. L-C had been ranked number one since April 20, 1999.

The Warriors (36-10) recorded eight first-place votes and registered 646 total points. L-C went 4-2 this past week, defeating Central Washington last Monday, 10-5, Washington State 10-7 last Tuesday, but split a four-game home-and-home series with Albertson.

Oklahoma City (44-9), assumes the number one spot with 16 first-place votes and 661 total points. Birmingham-Southern (32-8) holds steady at #3. Auburn-Montgomery (41-8) remains at #4, while Warner Southern (40-9) moves in at #5 with one first-place vote, up three spots after sweeping a three-game series at home against then #5 Flagler.

Region I teams that are in the polls are as follows: #22 Western Oregon (28-8) moved up three spots in the poll after sweeping Concordia University. Albertson is ranked #36, receiving 25 votes for the Top-25.

The Warriors play at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA this afternoon, and will then open play in the Happy Day Corporation Tournament, Friday night, at 6:00 P.M., against Willamette. Concordia will also participate in the three-day tournament.
