Warriors Hold On at #2

The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors remain in second place for the third consecutive week in the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Tuesday, May 1st.

The Warriors (46-12) recorded five first-place votes and registered 643 total points. L-C went 5-2 this past week, splitting with Washington and British Columbia, on the road, and sweeping Western Oregon at home.

Oklahoma City (53-10) went 4-0 last week, remains at #1 with 20 first-place votes and 666 total points. The Stars open Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament play this Thursday at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. Birmingham-Southern (40-10) stays at #3 and received a first-place vote. The Panthers head into TranSouth Conference Tournament play Wednesday, in Jackson, TN. Biola University (35-6) is the new entry into the top-five at #4, and have already wrapped up the Golden State Athletic Conference regular-season championship. The Eagles picked up a first-place vote and have tallied 573 points., while Warner Southern (49-13) stays at #5 after going 6-3. The Royals head into the Florida Sun Conference Tournament at Daytona Beach, FL, starting May 8th.

Region I teams that are in the polls are as follows: #26 Albertson (36-15) came up eight votes shy of the poll after sweeping British Columbia (33-19), now #52, in critical NAIA Region I series in Caldwell, ID. Western Oregon (31-15) is now at #37 after a tough weekend in Lewiston, but will host British Columbia in a key NAIA Region I match up.

The Warriors will play a three-game, home-and-home series against the Washington State University Cougars this weekend. Friday’s game will be in Pullman with a starting time of 6:00 P.M. Saturday’s game will be at Lewiston at 2:00, and Sunday’s game will be back in Pullman at 2:00.
