Warriors Rally to Beat Wildcats, 7-5

LEWISTON,ID--Lewis-Clark State trailed for most of the game, but squeezed out a 7-5 victory over Central Washington, Sunday afternoon, at Harris Field.

The Warriors (2-0) tied the game at five, in the bottom of the seventh as Nick Browne hit his first home run, a solo homer, as a Warrior over the right-centerfield wall off of Wildcat reliever Rick Leyes. Lewis-Clark State plated two more runs in the eighth as Micah Furtado broke the tie when he scored on Matt Hellman’s sacrifice fly to right field. Brandon O’Leary gave the Warriors some breathing room as he singled home Clare Langford, who scored from second base. Picking up the win in relief was Nick Gravelle (1-0). He pitched two innings of no-hit relief, and struck out three of the six batters he faced.

Gabe Stadjuhar came off of the bench to hit a pair of doubles. Brendan Ryan and Langford both collected a double and a single on the afternoon.

Central Washington (0-2) were led by Seth Hill, who went 2 for 3. He had an RBI single in the sixth and also hit a double in the fourth. Leyes (0-1) picked up the loss in relief.

Lewis-Clark State returns to action on Tuesday, February 13th, at UNLV.
