Warriors Strikeout Thunderbirds, 10-1

LEWISTON,ID--Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State College rode the arms of J.R. Crider and Collin Perschon to a 10-1 victory over the University of British Columbia, in an NAIA college baseball game, played Friday night, at Harris Field.

Crider (4-0) went five innings, scattering two hits and striking out eight batters to lead the Warriors (19-4). Perschon came on in relief, tossing four innings of two-hit baseball, striking out ten batters, and picking up his second save of the season.

The Warriors broke open a 3-0 game in the third inning with a five-run outburst. Nick Bullen hit an RBI double to center field and the next batter, Nick Browne, scored Bullen and Mike Madrid, who was on third, with a base hit to right field.

The Thunderbirds (12-9) plated an unearned run in the seventh inning as Nicholas Leswick hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Mike Lazaruk, who pinch ran for Chad Tuck who had reached first on a throwing error by the Warrior catcher Gabe Stajduhar.

Jeff Brewer (1-1) picked up the loss for British Columbia. He went five innings, giving up nine hits and nine runs, all earned.

The same two teams will face each other in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
