Warriors Crush Wildcats, 10-4
LEWISTON,ID--The Warrior offense that had been dormant for the past two games came alive today as Lewis-Clark State rolled past Central Washington, 10-4, in an NAIA Region I baseball game, Saturday afternoon, at Harris Field.
Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State (31-8) got the majority of its production from the top of the lineup. Ten of the Warriors 19 hits came from the first four hitters, led by Kurt Koshelniks (Everett, WA) four singles. Matt Hellman (Burbank, CA) and Mike Madrid (Silver City, NM) both collected three hits and three RBI on the afternoon. Two of Madrids hits were doubles.
The Warriors got on the board first as Madrid doubled down the left field line, scoring Koshelnik from third base. L-C plated three more runs in the second and added two more in the fourth for insurance.
Central Washington (16-14) rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth, as Will Kilmer hit a two-run single to center and the next batter, Jeremy Fox, doubled to left field, also scoring two runs.
Collin Perschon (Bellevue, WA) went five innings and struck out eight batters, and upped his record to 3-0. Ryan Heitmann (Lewiston, ID) pitched four innings of relief to pick up his second save, retiring all 12 of the batters he faced, allowing only one baserunner, who reached by an error.
Jeff Perry (2-2) went four innings before giving way to two relief pitchers.
The same two teams will meet at Ellensburg, WA, on Sunday, April 8th, at 2:00 PM. They will close out the series with a 2:00 PM Monday contest.
