Brown Leads L-C to 17-3 Triumph

 

LEWISTON,ID--Trevor Brown had a big day, going 3-for-4 from the plate and drove in six runs to lead Lewis-Clark State to a 17-3 NAIA Region I baseball rout over Western Oregon University, Saturday afternoon, at Harris Field.

Brown hit his ninth home run, a three-run shot, in the fifth inning off of WOU reliever, James Peterson. He added a two-run double in the eighth innings. Kurt Koshelnik also went 3-for-4, all of his hits were doubles, and drove in two runs. Brendan Ryan, Gabe Stajduhar, and Ricky Osuna all had two hits apiece. Nic Puckett (5-0) went six innings, allowed six hits and struck out three. Ricky Bostick picked up his team-best fifth save.

David Curtiss led Western Oregon (31-14) at the plate with a pair of solo home runs, the first homers he has hit this year. Andy Ortmayer and Mark Hernandez both collected three hits on the afternoon. Josh Samter (4-3) took the loss after going four innings and surrendering 13 hits and eight runs, all earned.

The same teams will meet in the rubber game at 12:00 P.M. Pacific, on Sunday.
