--Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State continued its onslaught in the Paffile Trucking Tournament on Sunday, as the Warriors disposed of the Thunderbirds from the University of British Columbia, 12-1, at Harris Field.Lewis-Clark State (8-4) faced one the toughest pitchers in the NAIA ranks, Jeff Francis, from British Columbia. The Warriors countered with NAIA All-American Chris Mabeus. LCSC drew first blood, in the second inning as Nick Walker belted a solo home run on a 1-0 count, his third homer of the season, over the left center field wall.
The Warriors chased Francis (2-1) after pitching four innings and tossing 83 pitches. L-C then picked on reliever Dave Gautier, who, in two innings, got lit up for six runs and six hits. In his two innings of work, he faced 17 batters. In the fifth inning, Gabe Stajduhar hit a two-run double down the left field line and Walker followed suit with an RBI double to left center, plating Stajduhar. In the sixth, Walker continued to swing a hot bat, clearing the bases with a double to center field, scoring all three runners on base.
