Warriors Rout the Wildcats, 21-1
LEWISTON,ID--NAIA All-America catcher Gabe Stajduhar went 3-for-5, including a grand slam, in powering Lewis-Clark State to a 21-1 rout over Central Washington, Sunday afternoon, at Harris Field. The Warriors won two-of-the-three games in the weekend series.
Five players had two hits each for Lewis-Clark State (4-2). Zeph Zinsman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, Neil Litchfield went 2-for-2 with three RBI, Jay Knowlton and Nick Browne went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Nick Walker went 2-for-6 with three RBI. The Warriors blasted six more home runs to finish with a total of 21 for the series. LCSC got a great pitching performance out of starter William Simmons. He went four innings, giving up only one hit and struck out one batter. Simmons only threw 51 pitches.
John Thomas had half of Central Washington’s (1-2) hit total. He had a pair of singles and scored the lone run for the Wildcats. Stephen Short (0-1) went two innings, giving up seven hits, seven runs, all earned, and threw 60 pitches.
The game was decided when L-C scored five runs in the first. The Warriors also tallied five runs in the third and sixth innings, and scored in all but the seventh frame.
Lewis-Clark State will host the Paffile Trucking Tournament this weekend,
opening with Albertson College at 3:00 PM Friday.
