Warriors Slip #8 Latest Poll
LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors slip to #8 in the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Wednesday, April 10th.
The Warriors (24-10) tallied 460 total points. LCSC defeated NCAA Division III-member, Whitman College, last Wednesday, 15-8.
For the first time in three weeks, there is a new number one team, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (36-8) of Daytona Beach, Fla. The Eagles received 17 first place votes and 662 total points. Oklahoma City University (38-11) falls to #2, registering eight first place votes and 623 points. Faulkner University (37-9) jumped seven spots to #3 after going 5-0 for the week. Union University of Jackson, Tenn. (34-12) holds steady at #4, but did garner two first place votes. Rounding out the top five was Georgia Southwestern State University (37-8). Both Faulkner and Georgia Southwestern play in the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference along with #10 Auburn-Montgomery.
The University of British Columbia (25-11) makes its first appearance in the Top Ten at #9, climbing three spots from last week. Albertson College (22-13-1) is #26, just missing the top 25 by ten votes.
Other colleges that made the 2001 Avista NAIA World Series
field are as follows: #6 Bellevue University (27-11); #11 Dallas Baptist
University (26-12); and, #18 Indiana Tech (22-8). Warner Southern College picked
up 58 votes, Ohio Dominican College received 14 votes, and Biola University
tallied 13 votes for the Top 25.
