Torres Hurls Complete Game Win Over Gonzaga
LEWISTON, ID--
Andy Torres pitched a complete game five hitter to lead seventh-ranked Lewis-Clark State to a 5-1 win over NCAA Division I Gonzaga, Wednesday night, at Harris Field.Zeph Zinsman hit a solo home run, his 12th of the year, in the bottom of the eighth, and also collected a base hit to lead Lewis-Clark State’s (30-12) offense. Micah Furtado added a single and a double. Torres surrendered only one run and struck out five batters.
The Warriors drew first blood in the bottom of the sixth when Tory Haven doubled home Furtado, who had singled before him. In the seventh, Furtado’s RBI double, scoring courtesy runner Neil Litchfield, proved to be the game winner.
Five different Bulldogs collected hits as five different Gonzaga (23-18)
pitchers saw time on the mound. John Gonzalez (0-3) was tabbed with the loss
after going 2/3 of an inning, giving up Haven’s RBI double.
