Warriors Fall to #7 Latest Poll

LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors fell four notches to #7 in the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Wednesday, April 3rd.

The Warriors (20-10) tallied 452 total points. LCSC went 2-4 in last week’s Rainbow Easter Baseball Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Topping the poll for the second consecutive week is Oklahoma City University (35-8). They received 14 first place votes and 633 total points. Ranked second, again, is Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (32-6) of Daytona Beach, Fla. The Eagles received 10 first place votes and totalled 619 points. Auburn University-Montgomery, Ala. (30-9) follows in third with one first place vote and 505 total points. The Senators moved up one from last week. Georgia Southwestern State University (30-7) made a giant leap, up 11 spots to #4, and are currently riding a ten-game winning streak. Houston Baptist University (23-9) rounds out the top five, moving up one spot from last week.

The University of British Columbia (18-10) makes its first-ever appearance in the Top 25, coming in at #12, after being not ranked last week, and are the highest team debuting in this week’s poll. Albertson College (15-8-1) dropped five spots to #24.

Other colleges that made the 2001 Avista NAIA World Series field are as follows: #9 Bellevue (20-10); #7 Dallas Baptist (23-10); and, #22 Ohio Dominican (17-3). Biola just missed the poll by four points. Indiana Tech tallied 16 points, and Warner Southern received 14 points.
