LCSC Holds Off Western Baptist, 4-3
LEWISTON,ID--Tyler Best’s RBI-single in the fifth inning led seventh-ranked Lewis-Clark State College to a 4-3 win over Western Baptist College, Saturday afternoon, at Harris Field, in the second game of a doubleheader.
Nick Walker and Emerson Frostad each had two hits apiece to lead Lewis-Clark State (23-10). Walker hit his second home run in as many games, another two-run shot, to put L-C ahead 3-0. Zeph Zinsman, making his second start as a pitcher, retired all nine batters he faced, but Nick Bullen (1-0) earned the win, going three innings, scattering six hits. Patrick Bailes came on to close out the game to pick up his second save.
Beau Batsell, K.C. Rumrey, and Sam Owre each had to hits to pace Western Baptist (15-14). Travis Lange (1-2) tossed 6.1 innings, giving up seven hits and all four runs, recording five strike outs.
In the ninth, L-C reliever Nic Puckett got the first two batters out, but
Jason Brownell singled up the middle and Dustin Purnell followed by reaching
base on a fielding error by L-C third baseman Walker. Dave Roberts doubled home
both runs, but that was as close as Western Baptist would come.
