Puckett Hurls L-C Past WSU, 6-4
LEWISTON, ID--
Senior Nic Puckett pitched his second complete game, in as many starts, and led sixth-ranked Lewis-Clark State College to a 6-4 win over Washington State University, Monday night, at Harris Field on "Senior Night".Fellow senior Zeph Zinsman was 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI, and hit his 15th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth, and gave L-C the lead for good at, 4-3. Puckett (4-0) is now 18-0 in his career as a Warrior. Gabe Stajduhar came off of the bench and hit a two-run single in the seventh to give LCSC at three-run bulge.
Evan Hecker and Bookie Gates each collected two hits for Washington State (19-29). Bryce Chamberlin (0-1) picked up the loss, going six innings and giving up four runs on four hits.
Lewis-Clark State will next play in the 2002 Avista NAIA World Series, Friday night, May 24th, at 7:00 PM. Washington State returns to PAC-10 play this weekend with a three-game set at the University of Arizona.
