Warriors Slip to #10
LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors slipped to #10 in the latest NAIA College Baseball Top 25 poll, released Wednesday, May 1st.
The Warriors (31-14) tallied 407 total points. LCSC defeated Gonzaga and Albertson College, but lost to Washington State and Albertson (twice). This is believed to be the lowest the Lewis-Clark State baseball program has been ranked since possibly the early 1980’s.
For the third straight week Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (42-8) of Daytona Beach, Fla. is the top ranked team. The Eagles received 21 first place votes and 666 total points. Oklahoma City University (45-12) remains #2, registering two first place votes and 649 points. Georgia Southwestern (45-9) moves up one spot to #3, and received the other first place vote. Auburn-Montgomery (44-16) falls one spot to #4. Bellevue University (37-13-1) rounds out the top five.
Albertson College (30-14-1) made the biggest positive move in the poll, hopping nine spots to #13. The University of British Columbia (29-15) had the biggest negative move in the poll, dropping 13 spots to #19, after losing three-of-four games to unranked Eastern Oregon.
Other colleges that made the 2001 Avista NAIA World Series
field are as follows: #6 Dallas Baptist University (34-13); #15 Indiana Tech
(32-11); and, #17 Ohio Dominican College (32-10). Warner Southern College picked
up 11 votes and Biola University tallied one vote for the Top 25.
