Matthews is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Warriors. He had two stints as a pitching coach in 1983 and 1994. Matthews was an assistant coach at Central Washington University in 1985.

Matthews had a solid four-year career at Lewis-Clark State. In 1979, he earned the team’s Most Valuable Player award and also earned All-Region accolades in 1980 and 1982.

Matthews will be responsible for the pitching staff. Five players off of last year’s staff signed pro contracts.
