JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Played two seasons at Canada Community College in Redwood City,
Calif., as an outfielder for coach Tony Lucca. He served as captain
of the team last season was an all-Nor-Cal first-team selection and
earned first-team all-league honors. He was a second-team all-league
selection as a freshman.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Played at Sequoia High in San Carlos, Calif., where he earned two
letters in football and two in baseball. He was a jack-of-all trade
in football, seeing playing time at wide receiver, defensive back,
quarterback and kicker. In baseball, he served as captain both his
junior and senior year while pitching and playing in the outfield.
He was a two-time MVP on his baseball team and also received the Joe
Mann Award in football.
PERSONAL:
Born Aug. 4, 1986 to Steve and Patty Rivera in Palo Alto, Calif. Has
two brothers, Matt and Tim. His father played professional football
with Chicago and San Francisco and is the University of
California-Berkeley Hall of Fame. Mother works for the Stanford
Alumni Association. Mike enjoys fishing, hiking, longboarding, and
skimboarding. He made the Dean’s List at Canada CC and is majoring
in Communications.
