LCSC takes the
Concordia series opener 10-4
4-15-07
PORTLAND, Ore.
- Chris Kissock worked seven innings and
benefited from 15 hits' worth of offensive
support as Lewis-Clark State bounced
Concordia 10-4 on Saturday afternoon in the
opener of a three-game NAIA Region I series.
The sum for
Kissock was his ninth victory in 10 starts
this spring and his 24th career win at L-C.
That moves him into a three-way for seventh
on the program's all-time list. He is also
within four of the Warriors' record for
single-season victories.
Kissock,
however, was comparatively average in this
game, which was delayed 24 hours by the
threat of rain. The junior right-hander
yielded nine hits and four runs, although
only one was earned, while striking out four
and walking one.
Warrior hitters
provided security, rocking Concordia starter
Bryan Goff (5-3) for eight runs in the
second through fifth innings. Not
surprisingly, Beau Mills was the catalyst,
belting his 17th home run, a two-run shot,
in the third and an RBI double in the
fourth. The junior transfer pushed his
hitting streak to 14 games.
Mark Thompson,
Brent Wyatt and Zach Evangelho contributed
three hits apiece for the top-ranked
Warriors, who are now 32-3 on the season and
5-0 against Concordia.
Thompson
smacked his fourth homer of the year, a
two-run drive that followed a 37-minute rain
delay in the eighth, while Wyatt extended
his hitting streak to 12 games.
Kyle Greene
also homered for the Warriors, leading off
the fifth with his fourth long ball of the
spring.
Following the
seventh, during which Concordia scored three
unearned runs off Kissock - the result of
L-C's lone error of the game - Will Morgan
came out of the bullpen and no-hit the
Cavaliers (14-7) over the final two innings.
The junior right-hander, who has a team-high
15 appearances - all in relief - struck out
two to raise his season total to 48, also an
L-C best.

play a doubleheader today beginning at 11
