PORTLAND, Ore. -- Beau
Mills homered for the 11th
time in his last 12 games
and Jesse Roehl homered and
drove in four runs as the
Lewis-Clark State College
baseball team completed a
four-game sweep of Concordia
with a 15-2 win on Monday.
The contest, which was the
only non Region I game of
the four, saw LCSC pound out
20 hits, including the 21st
home run of the season by
Mills. The junior
third-baseman is now sixth
on the LCSC single-season
home run list and increased
his consecutive game hitting
streak to 17, the longest of
the season for any Warrior.
LCSC, which outscored
Concordia 43-12 in the
four-game series, had little
trouble on Monday, scoring
eight runs in the first two
innings to take control of
the contest.
Mills wasted little time in
getting LCSC on the
scoreboard as he smacked a
two-run home run in the
first inning. Roehl hit a
two-run home run in the
second inning as LCSC took
an 8-1 lead.
The Warriors used a
three-run fifth and a
three-run seventh for a 14-1
advantage. Paul Martin had a
two-run double in the fifth,
while Kyle Melton drove in
two in the seventh, also
with a double.
Roehl finished 3-for-6 with
four RBI, while Melton was
2-for-6 with three RBI and
two runs scored. Mills was
2-for-3 with two RBI and
three runs scored, while
Martin also drove in two
runs. Mark Thompson was
4-for-5 with three runs
scored.
LCSC finished with seven
extra-base hits in the
contest.
Concordia, 14-20 overall,
was held in check by three
Warrior pitchers, who
combined on a seven-hitter.
Matt Fitts (5-0) went the
first three inning and
allowed three hits, one walk
and one run. He struck out
four. Chris Schwinden
pitched two innings of
hitless ball with a
strikeout, while Will Morgan
went the final four innings.
He gave up four hits and a
run, but struck out three.
LCSC is back in action on
Friday when it plays host to
Region I foe Albertson at 6
p.m. to start a three-game
series.
