Warriors drub Yotes in first game on road
3-17-07
CALDWELL -- Chris Kissock picked up his
fifth victory and Lewis-Clark State rolled
in its first road game of the season,
trouncing Albertson 10-1 on Friday afternoon
in the opener of a three-game NAIA Region I
series.
Although he yielded eight hits, Kissock
(5-0) was firmly in control throughout his
seven innings on the mound. The junior
right-hander, who struck out four while
walking none, allowed only five Coyote
baserunners to reach scoring position -- no
more than one in any inning.
Mike Miller pitched two innings of shutout
relief, giving up one hit, as the top-ranked
Warriors picked up their third victory over
Albertson to move to 17-1.
The 12th-ranked Coyotes, who have lost to no
one other than L-C, go to 15-3.
The Warriors had 12 hits, with Mark Thompson
and Jessie Mier providing three each. They
scored the game's first nine runs, capping
the opening flurry with a five-run third
inning.
Thompson had two triples, among an RBI
gapper to right-center in the third, and
scored twice.
Albertson starter Jason Roach suffered his
first loss in five decisions, giving up 11
hits an all L-C's runs over a four-inning
start. Four Coyote errors, however, rendered
half of the Warriors' runs unearned.
L-C and Albertson will continue the series
today at noon PDT.
