For the second straight week the Lewis-Clark State College baseball team was ranked No. 6 in the weekly NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors went 4-3 at Harris Field last week against stiff competition in Fresno Pacific and Western Oregon. LCSC, now 25-9 overall, received 508 points in the poll, which is 38 behind No. 5 Union of Kentucky.
The top six spots remained unchanged while three new teams entered the top 10. The University of British Columbia, which LCSC will travel to face on April 26-27, climbed from No. 10 to No. 7; Fresno Pacific, which went 2-2 against the Warriors last week, jumped from No. 16 to No. 8; and Berry College went from No. 11 to ninth.
Lubbuck Christian, now 36-4 on the year, earned 622 points and captured the top spot for the fourth straight week.
Up next on the schedule for Lewis-Clark State is a trip to Caldwell, Idaho, to face College of Idaho on Thursday at 1 p.m. and Friday at noon. Both teams will then return to Harris Field for a 6 p.m. game on Saturday and a noon game on Sunday.
College of Idaho was ranked No. 23 last week but dropped out of the Top 25 in this week’s poll. LCSC is 3-1 against the Coyotes this year.
