The Lewis-Clark State College baseball team was ranked No. 6 in this week’s NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday. LCSC has now been ranked sixth for three straight weeks.
Since last week’s poll, the Warriors are riding a four-game win streak thanks to a superb series against the College of Idaho. In the four games, LCSC outscored the Coyotes 55-20 and averaged over 16 hits per game.
The Warriors, 29-9 on the year, earned 524 points in the poll and now trail fifth-ranked Union College by only five points. Last week, LCSC received 508 points and was 38 points behind Union.
In the top five, Lubbuck Christian earned all 22 first-place votes to grab 622 points and the No. 1 spot for the fifth straight poll, Oklahoma City came in at No. 2 with 594 points, and Point Loma Nazarene earned 563 points to claim third and flip spots with Southern Polytechnic State.
The University of British Columbia, which the Warriors will meet in Vancouver on April 26-27, received 456 points in the poll to drop from No. 7 to No. 8.
Up next on LCSC’s schedule is a three-game home stand against Concordia of Portland on Thursday and Friday. Thursday’s game is at 6 p.m., while Friday features a doubleheader starting at noon.
