LCSC:
Started at second base
last season, but also
saw time at shortstop
and third. Was only one
of four players to see
action in at least 60
games and started 58,
which was third most on
the team. His 13 doubles
ranked fifth and he also
was fifth on the team in
stolen bases with four.
Got off to a bit of a
slow start at the plate,
but then got hot on the
team’s road trip to
Dixie State with
back-to-back 3-for-4
efforts at the plate,
driving in four runs in
the second game. Had a
season-high five RBI and
hit his only home run, a
three-run shot in a 14-0
win over Whitworth. He
finished with four games
of three or more RBI and
had a hit or scored a
run in all six games of
the Avista NAIA World
Series.
COLLEGE:
Played as a freshman
last season at
Washington State
University where he was
both a shortstop and
second baseman. Played
in 38 games and started
19. Went 22-of-79 for
.278 average with one
double and 23 RBI. Also
stole a base and had a
.971 fielding
percentage.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Attended Lake Washington
in Kirkland and was a
three-year letterwinner
in both football and
baseball. In football,
he played cornerback and
wide receiver and earned
first-team all-King
County as a defensive
back as a junior. He led
the league with seven
interceptions and helped
the team to the league
title after it finished
sixth at state his
junior year. In
baseball, he was a
first-team all-King
County choice and a
second-team all-state
selection both his
junior and senior
seasons. He also hit
.500 as a sophomore and
again earned all-King
County honors. During
junior year, he was
named the MVP of the
Northwest Baseball
Tournament.
PERSONAL:
Born Aug. 29, 1987 to Al
and Sue Ashenbrenner in
Seattle. Josh has two
brothers, Luke and
Travis. Lists his hobby
as video games, cards,
fishing, bowling and
poll. He also won the
2008 Northwoods Summer
League Gold Glove Award
at shortstop.
