injury. Was used both as
a starter and reliever
in 2007 as a junior.
Made 16 appearances with
seven starts. Went 7-0
with a 2.54 ERA and one
save. Was fifth on the
team in innings pitched
with 56.2. Opponents hit
.235, and he struck out
60, also fifth on the
team, with just 13
walks.
JUNIOR
COLLEGE:
Played pitcher and
catcher for Cerritos
Junior College the two
seasons and was captain
in 2006. He went 2-5 on
the mound with four
saves and a team-leading
1.84 ERA. He appeared in
15 games and started
three and recorded 41
strikeouts in 44
innings. At the plate,
he went .263 with three
doubles and 13 RBI. He
was a first-team
all-conference pick as a
freshman.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Played pitcher and catcher for two
seasons at St. John
Bosco High and was
captain of the team his
senior year. He was
named the team’s MVP and
was first-team
all-league his senior
year after being a
second-team selection as
a junior.
PERSONAL: Born on
Feb. 11, 1986 to Gary
and Patricia
Schwarzenbach, Brad has
one sister, Jamie, who
played softball at
Creighton University.
Brad has been selected
three times in the Major
League draft. He was
selected by the San
Francisco Giants after
his senior year of high
school and then by
Atlanta following his
freshman year at
Cerritos, both in the 32nd
round. In 2006, the New
York Mets chose him in
the 44th
round. Brad is majoring
in Kinesiology at LCSC.
