LCSC: Made one start and 14 relief appearances last season when he earned two saves. Hard thrower also had the second best strikeout-to-innings pitched ratio on the team. Season highlight came when he earned the win in the championship game of the Avista NAIA World Series. In that game he pitched 3.1 innings of relief and allowed one hit and one run with three strikeouts. His other win came in March in a victory over College of Idaho. Pitched a season-high four innings against British Columbia.

 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Pitched for two seasons at Merced College for coach Chris Pedretti. Matt was a first-team all-conference selection both seasons.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Turlock High and pitched for two seasons for the Bulldogs.

 

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 21, 1986 to Doug and Mary Stabelfeld. He has one sister, Andrea. His grandfather, Glen Stabelfeld, reached the AAA level with the St. Louis Cardinals. He is majoring in Kinesiology at LCSC.
