Off to its best start in program history, the Lewis-Clark State College baseball team was again the top-ranked team in the third NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday. Also announced on Tuesday, the Warriors added a home game against Concordia University on April 22 to their schedule.
LCSC, which holds a 31-2 record and is on a 14-game win streak, captured all 22 of the first-place votes for the first time this year and claimed a total of 622 points in the poll. The Warriors have now been ranked No. 1 for three consecutive polls.
Cumberland University received 509 points to move from third to second and swap positions with Oklahoma City which garnered 585. Rounding out the top five, the University of British Columbia earned 557 points to move from sixth to fourth, and California Baptist University received 547 to remain No. 5.
In what is now a battle between the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 teams, Lewis-Clark State will travel to face British Columbia in a three-game series starting on Friday at 4 p.m. Friday’s contest will be followed by a game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
LCSC will then pay a visit to Corban College on April 19-20 before returning to Harris Field to face Concordia. The LCSC-Concordia series, which was originally scheduled for three games, will now feature a game on April 22 at 6 p.m., a game on April 23 at 6 p.m., and then a doubleheader starting at noon on April 24.
