JUNIOR COLLEGE: Was a two-sport athlete at Walla Walla Community College as he played on both the basketball team and the baseball team. Was a forward on the basketball team and outfielder and designated hitter in baseball. Hit .277 during his freshman season.  Hit .263 during sophomore year with seven doubles, three triples, two home runs and 25 RBI. Also was 7-of-11 in stolen bases.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Skyline High in Idaho Falls in 2006. Played center and forward on the basketball team and earned two letters. He also earned two letters in baseball where he played outfielder, first base and pitched for the Grizzlies. He was captain of both teams during his senior year.

PERSONAL: Born on February 18, 1988 to parents Chuck and Jan Matthews. Real name is Andrew but prefers Andy. Has one sister, Amanda. Hobbies are hunting and fishing. He is pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
