McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Rain washed away the scheduled doubleheader between Lewis-Clark State and Corban College on Sunday, and with more rain in the forecast for Monday, the two teams decided to call off the remaining three games in the series.
Weather problems both in Lewiston and in Salem, Ore., left the two teams scrambling to schedule the four-game series. The games were originally scheduled for Lewiston on Friday and Saturday, but below-freezing temperatures and snow forced officials earlier in the week to move the games to Oregon.
With Corban's field in Salem unplayable, the two teams played on Linfield's Roy Helser Field on Saturday afternoon with LCSC claiming a 10-0 win. The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday and a single game Monday at Linfield, but rain on Sunday with more in the forecast for Monday forced officials to call the remaining three games off.
The two teams may reschedule the games later in the season when Corban, 0-9 overall, visits LCSC, 9-1, on April 22 and 23 for doubleheaders. The two teams may also play on either April 21 or April 24.
LCSC will head back to Oregon this weekend for a four-game series with Concordia at the University of Portland. The first game is Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a noon doubleheader on Saturday and then a single game, also at noon, on Sunday.
