Winning three of four games on the road last week helped the Lewis-Clark State College baseball team climb two spots in this week’s NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, released by the NAIA on Tuesday.
The Warriors, 20-7 overall, moved into a tie for 14th in the poll with Union College of Kentucky. Both teams have 343 points in the poll.
Oklahoma City remained as the No. 1 team after receiving 21 of 22 first-place votes for 622 points. Lee picked up the other first-place vote to stand second, followed by Embry-Riddle, Brewton-Parker, and Oklahoma Baptist.
The University of British Columbia, which leads the NAIA West North Division with a 17-2 conference mark while LCSC is 10-6, moved up two spots to No. 9 in the poll. No other NAIA West teams received votes in the poll, which was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/independents/unaffiliated groups.
LCSC resumes action this weekend with four games against Western Oregon, an NCAA Division II school. The two team, in a schedule change announced this week, begin their series in Monmouth, Ore., with a 2 p.m. contest on Friday, followed by a doubleheader at noon on Saturday and a single game at noon on Sunday.
