The Lewis-Clark State College baseball team dropped four spots to No. 18 in this week’s edition of the NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the NAIA announced.
The Warriors, 21-10 overall, dropped three of four games last week to Western Oregon University, an NCAA Division II team, on the road. That caused LCSC to be one of four teams to drop four spots in the third poll of the season.
No. 17 Union of Tennessee also fell four spots and held a 323-320 lead in points in the poll over LCSC. Lubbock Christian fell from No. 16 to No. 19.
Lee moved from second to the top spot in the poll with 14 first-place votes and 641 points overall. Embry-Riddle is now second while previous No. 1, Oklahoma city, is at No. 3 with 623 points and seven first-place votes. Rounding out the top five is California Baptist at No. 4 and LSU Shreveport at No. 5.
After Tuesday’s contest against Whitworth, LCSC will be home for a five-game series against seventh-ranked University of British Columbia starting on Friday. The two teams play a 3 p.m. doubleheader Friday, a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, and then a single nine-inning game at 1 on Sunday.
Saturday is $1 day at the ballpark with $1 admission plus $1 specials from the concession stand. Also, following the doubleheader, the LCSC players will autograph free team posters for anyone.
