Taking three of five games from a higher-ranked opponent last week helped the Lewis-Clark State College men’s baseball team hold stay at No. 18 in this week’s NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors took three games from the University of British Columbia, which was ranked No. 7 last week but fell into a tie for 14th in this week’s poll.
LCSC, 24-13 on the season and 13-8 in NAIA West Conference play, drew 289 points in the poll. Union of Tennessee and Northwood of Texas are tied for the No. 16 spot with 306 points.
The top six teams in the poll didn’t change from the previous week as Lee University is ranked No. 1, followed by Embry-Riddle, Oklahoma City, California Baptist, LSU Shreveport, and Oklahoma Baptist.
The Warriors resume action this week with a six-game series against Corban College. The two teams will play doubleheaders at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and then a doubleheader at noon on Saturday. Because two of the games are make-up contests for games that were rained out in Salem, Ore., earlier this year, LCSC will be the visiting team in those contests.
Also at the games, free decks of Warrior player baseball cards will be given away as long as supplies last.
