Bridges earns NAIA honorable mention honors
6/7/2011

Lewis-Clark State College junior infielder Trent Bridges has received honorable mention honors to the NAIA Baseball All-America Team as selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-American Selection Committee.

Bridges, who played both second and third base for the Warriors this season, was the only LCSC players honored and was just one of two players from the NAIA West Conference. In fact, only two players from schools located west of Nebraska received first- or second-team honors and only seven were among the 70 that received honors overall.

Bridges, a junior from Coeur d’Alene and a product of Lake City High School, completed his third year in the program. He finished second on the team in hitting at .392 after starting 53 of the team’s 55 games this season. He led LCSC in at bats (209), runs (56), hits (82), doubles (18) and total bases (114). He also finished third on the team in RBI (44) and walks (19).
The 2011 Rawlings-NAIA Player of the Year is Oklahoma City's Kirk Walker. In 59 games played, the senior batted .423, with 24 doubles, three triples and eight home runs. He had 72 RBI and struck out just 21 times in 234 at bats.
