Lewis-Clark State College senior pitcher Cody Fassold and senior first-baseman Brian Gaylord signed free-agent contacts with the Kansas City Royals on Thursday, the Warrior coaching staff announced.
Both players went undrafted in the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this week, which made them free agents.
Fassold, a senior right-hander from Gaston, Ore., posted a 4-4 record with a 3.32 earned run average this season. He started 12 of the 14 games he pitched in and pitched the team's lone complete game this season. He threw 59.2 innings and allowed 47 hits and 34 walks. He struckj out 62 and opponents hit just .215 against him.
Gaylord, who hails from La Mirada, Calif., hit .279 for LCSC. He started 47 of the 52 games he played in and went 57-of-204 at the plate with 15 doubles and a team-leading 12 home runs and 60 RBI. He was second on the taem in runs scored (43) and doubles.
LCSC had two players, both pitchers, selected in the draft - Zach Arneson in the ninth round by the New York Yankees, and Tyler Barrett in the 20th round by the Detroit Tigers.
