Lewis-Clark State College senior second-baseman Trent Bridges was named to the 17-member National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2010 Baseball Preseason All-American Team on Monday.
The team was selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee.
Bridges was LCSC's second-leading hitter last season with a .392 average. He started a team-high 53 games and went 82-of-209 at the plate with 18 doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 44 RBI. He had a .545 slugging percentage and a .928 fielding percentage.
Bridges, who earned NAIA All-America honorable mention honors a year ago, was chosen as the infielder to the squad, which featured two catchers, five infielders, four outfielders, five starting pitchers, and a relief pitcher.
Bridges becomes the first LCSC player to earn preseason honors in two years. The 2010 preseason team features LCSC infielder Josh Ashenbrenner and catcher Brian Burke.
Headlining this year's team are a trio of 2011 first-team All-Americans in Lubbock Christian second-baseman Richard Bohlken, outfielder Brady Wathen of Grand View, and Madonna's starting pitcher Jeremy Gooding. Designated hitter Mike Mandarino of Cumberland was a second-team selection a year ago. Ten All-America honorable mentions from last season also made the team.
