The Lewis-Clark State College baseball team is ranked No. 15 in the first regular-season edition of the 2012 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the NAIA announced Tuesday.
The Warriors currently stand at 21-8 overall and lead the NAIA West Division with a record of 11-4. The team earned 311 points in the poll after garnering 327 points in the preseason poll and being ranked No. 11.
Embry-Riddle (Fla.), which the Warriors split a two-game rain-shortened series with last week, climbed from No. 5 to No. 4. The Eagles are currently 26-9 overall.
Lee (Tenn.), 33-4-1, moved from No. 3 to No. 1, and LSU Shreveport (La.), 26-3, climbed from No. 6 to No. 2. Oklahoma City is at 25-6 and fell from the top spot to No. 3.
The College of Idaho, 22-9 and ranked No. 22, was the only other NAIA West team ranked in the poll, though British Columbia did receive votes.
LCSC will play a four-game series against British Columbia in Vancouver this weekend. The teams will play at 2 p.m. on Friday, at 1 p.m. on Saturday (a doubleheader), and at 11 a.m. on Sunday, all times Pacific.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independent/unaffiliated groupings. The next poll will be released on April 3.
