The Lewis-Clark State College baseball team stayed at No. 9 as the top 11 teams remained unchanged in this week’s NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released by the national office on Tuesday.
The Warriors are currently 39-11 overall and have gone 19-3 over their last 22 games. They received 404 points in this poll after garnering 413 points last week. Despite the decrease, their lead over No. 10-ranked Point Park increased as the Pennsylvania school received 396 points this week after picking up 412 points the week before.
Lewis-Clark State ranks second in the NAIA in hits per game (11.7), third in doubles per game (2.5), fourth in total doubles (127), eighth in runs batted in per game (7.3), and eighth in opponent batting average (.229).
LSU Shreveport (La.) leads the poll and owns a nation-best .922 winning percentage with a record of 47-4. Oklahoma City is No. 2, Faulkner (Ala.) is No. 3, Azusa Pacific (Calif.) is No. 4, and Lee (Tenn.) is No. 5.
Fellow NAIA West member College of Idaho received only 93 points and fell from No. 21 to outside of the top 25.
The final poll will be released on Sunday along with the 46 teams that will complete at the nine National Championship Opening Round tournaments.
The nine site champions will join host Lewis-Clark State at the 2012 Avista NAIA World Series in Lewiston on May 25 - June 1.
