LCSC:
Joins Trent Bridges as the
only four-year senior on the
squad…had a see-saw
junior season…tied for the
third-most appearances with
14, all but one in
relief…took part in three
shutouts by the pitching
staff and finished with a
1-0 record with a save...win
came in a 5-3 victory over
Whitworth at home and was
perhaps his most solid
outing of the season…allowed
just one hit in three
innings and struck out four
of the nine batters he
faced…picked up a save in a
4-2 win over Linfield with
2.2 innings of work…allowed
three hits and one run
during the outing, but 26 of
his 43 pitches went for
strikes…as a junior, he made
17 appearances, all in
relief, in 2010…finished
with a record of 2-1 with a
3.79 ERA and two saves…in 19
innings he struck out 17 and
walked two, while opponents
hit .282 off of him…he
struck out the side in the
ninth inning against
Whitworth…had a strong first
season with the team in 2009
and became one of the
mainstays out of the
bullpen…he finished second
on the team in appearances
with 17 and was second in
saves with two…he tied for
team-high honors in wins and
was second among the
regulars in lowest batting
average as opponents only
hit .226 against him…only
one of his 17 appearances
was a start.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned
three varsity letters in
baseball and football at
Lake City High School…as a
pitcher, he was named
first-team all-state as a
senior, and was picked
first-team all-league in
both his junior and senior
season…held a 7-2 record as
a senior, and went 6-3 as a
junior, and was named Lake
City’s Male Athlete of the
Year…helped his team win the
state title his junior
year…also had two
third-place finishes at
state with his legion team.
PERSONAL: Born on
Feb. 28, 1990 to John and
LeAnn Clanton…has a brother,
Matthew. His father, John,
played baseball at
BYU…hobbies include playing
video games, and hanging out
with friends…is a Sports
Administration major.
