John Foster
Free Agent

Update
(July 31, 2007): On May 9th,
2006,
the Atlanta Braves transferred Foster from the 15-day disabled list to the
60-day DL. Undergoing surgery on his left-elbow, Foster missed all of the 2006 season.
He is currently a free agent.
MLB Career Recap:
Began his Major League
career in
Atlanta on April 24, 2002. During
2003 Foster was a part of the Milwaukee Brewer organization. During this season
he played in 23 games (21 innings), establishing a 2-0 record, and a 4.71 ERA.
Foster sat out the entire 2004 season while rehabbing from an injury to his left
shoulder, and eventually signed a Minor League contract to return to the Atlanta
Braves.
As a Warrior: Won a National Championship in 1999 with the Warriors.
Although his numbers during the regular season do not standout, Foster was
instrumental during the NAIA World Series. He recorded a win early in the
tournament, and came in as a relief pitcher to win and closeout the final game.

Foster at a Glance:
Foster signed with the Braves in spring training after asking for his
release from the Chicago Cubs. He
missed all of the 2004 season with shoulder
surgery, but in his three weeks in
Orlando he impressed the Braves enough to be put
on the
Richmond roster.
The 26-year old Foster did very well in his first three games in
Richmond. He had a 1.59 ERA,
allowing only one run on two hits in 5.2 innings of work, along with a walk and
five strikeouts.
Foster was first drafted by the Braves in the 25th round of the 1999 draft. He
made his big league debut with
Atlanta in 2002 before being traded
that next winter to the Milwaukee Brewers along with
Wes Helms
for
Ray King.
The Cubs then got Foster in the Rule V draft in December of 2003.
Victor Darensbourg

Minor League
Update (June 23, 2007):
5-10, 165, left-handed pitcher. Drafted in the 53rd round
in 1989 by
Kansas City
. Saw time with the Florida Marlins, Chicago
White Sox and
Detroit
. Currently playing for the Toledo Mud Hens,
the Tigers’ Triple A team, where is 2-0
with a 0.55 ERA. He has appeared in 29
games, all in relief, and has allowed 18
hits and only two runs in 32.2 innings. He
has struck out 28 and walked nine.
MLB Career Recap:
Started his Major League career at Florida in 1998. Had a five year career
as a key reliever with Florida, with his best season coming in 2000 when he held
a 5-3 record with a 4.06 ERA. After short stints with Colorado
and Montreal,
Darensbourg wore both a Mets and White Sox uniform in 2004. With limited playing
time and lackluster performances Darensbourg’s career seemed to be winding down
in 2004.
2005 Highlights:
After pitching extremely well at Tripe-A Toledo, the Detroit
Tigers called Darensbourg back to the Majors. Once in Detroit, the sidearm lefty
posted some of the best numbers of his career. Statistics for 2005 include, in
22 games and 22.1 innings, a .231 opponent batting average for lefthanders, a
.208 opponent average with runners in scoring position, and a 2.82 ERA. At the
end of the season Darensbourg became a free agent.
As a Warrior:
Darensbourg threw a complete game in the 1992 NAIA Championship
game. During 1992, his only year at LCSC, he went 10-2 in 82 innings, with 57
strikeouts, and a 3.37 ERA.
