LCSC women’s golf team remains at No. 19

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s golf team had 22 pars and 2 birdies on Thursday, but it was the “other score” that got to it. 

Recording double bogeys or worse on 18 holes in blustery conditions, the Warriors were unable to gain much ground in the third day of the NAIA Women’s Golf Championships at the San Marcos Country club on Thursday. 

The Warriors record a team score of 352 on Thursday, which left it in 19th place overall heading into Friday’s final 18 holes. LCSC shot 344 and 342 during its two previous rounds and stands at 1038 overall, 10 shots behind Dakota Wesleyan, which in 18th place. 

LCSC junior Juanita Villa tied her best round of the tournament with an 85 to lead the Warriors on Thursday, while Cortney Shrout and Alana Norris both carded 85s. Sue James and Samara Kluever had 93s. 

Shrout stands tied for 57yth overall with a 250 score, while Villa is tied for 77th at 257, and Norris is a shot back at 258. 

Embry-Riddle took the third-day lead with a 941 total, one shot ahead of Oklahoma City. Fellow Frontier Conference competitor Rocky Mountain stands 13th at 991.
