Heather Bruce, a senior at EnterpriseHigh School in Oregon, has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Lewis-Clark State College starting next fall.

Bruce is an all-around athlete at Enterprise High as she is also on the high school volleyball and basketball teams.

Bruce placed ninth last spring in the Oregon 4A/3A/2A/1A Girls State Golf Tournament after battling back from an opening round of 91.In her second round, she had a double-bogey on the sixth hole and a triple bogey on the ninth, but bounced back to shoot 1-over-par on the back nine to finish with an 81.

Bruce also finished seventh in the state tournament as a sophomore and 27th as a freshman.

“I watched Heather hit some golf balls recently and was very impressed,” LCSC women’s golf coach Steve Tilden said. “She seems to have good distance off the tee, which is very important. Heather has played in the Oregon High School Championships the last two years. I think Heather will be an asset to both the team and the school in general. Heather is very excited to become a Warrior and we are very excited to have her join our team next fall.”

Bruce is the first signee for the 2009-10 women’s team at LCSC. This year’s squad is currently in second place in the Frontier Conference standings, trailing RockyMountain by 21 strokes heading into the three spring conference tournaments, including one at the Lewiston Country Club.
