Kelsy Haycock, who helped the Ogden High School girls golf team go undefeated the past two seasons, has signed a letter-of-intent to play for the Lewis-Clark State College women’s golf team, Warrior women’s coach Steve Tilden has announced.
Haycock played on the boys team her first two seasons at the Utah high school before the girls program was started. Ogden High proceeded to win the Class 3A Division II state title her final two years.
During her junior season, Haycock tied for third place at the state tournament, which combined 3A, 2A and 1A schools, with an 83. During the state tournament her senior year, only 3A schools were involved, and Haycock shot an 82 to tie for fourth. That score tied her for fifth overall among all classifications.
“I watched her hit some balls and I think she will be a great addition to our program,” Tilden said. “She seems to have a great work ethic and knows what it is going to take to be successful at the collegiate level. I feel very fortunate that Kelsey chose Lewis Clark State for her golf and scholastic needs.”
Haycock, who had a 3.50 grade point average in high school, plans on majoring in Kinesiology at LCSC. She joins a Warrior team that finished second in the Frontier Conference this past season and placed 12th at the NAIA national tournament. It was the fourth straight year LCSC had qualified for the national tournament.
