PULLMAN - The Lewis-Clark State College men's golf team had a rough day in kicking off its season at the two-day Palouse Collegiate Golf Tournament at Washington State University's Palouse Ridge Golf Course.
The Warriors are last in the 12-team tournament, which features 10 NCAA schools, a community college and the NAIA Warriors. LCSC shot a first-round score of 315, the highest in the tournament, and then came back over the second 18 on Monday afternoon with a 309 for a 624 total.
The final 18 holes of the tournament are scheduled for Tuesday.
Sacramento State leads the tournament at 579, one shot ahead of Washington State University and six ahead of the University of Idaho. The Community College of Spokane is in 11th place at 614, 10 shots ahead of the Warriors.
"We've got a lot of work to do," LCSC coach Paul Thompson said. "It's a real tough golf course and we just weren't prepared. We have to come out and play better."
Senior Scott Mooney had LCSC's best score of the day with a 7-over-par 151, which tied him for 33rd place.
