The Lewis-Clark State College men’s golf team, helped by a strong fall season, is ranked at No. 19 in the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released on Friday.
The Warrior men won both of the fall Frontier Conference tournament titles and leads defending conference champion Rocky Mountain by 36 strokes heading into the final tournament, which will be held this spring in Butte, Mont.
The Warriors received votes in the final poll last season, but failed to crack the Top 25. LCSC had 200 points in the poll. University of British Columbia is No. 7, while the University of Victoria is at No. 15. Rocky Mountain received votes in the poll, but not enough to make the Top 25.
Oklahoma City, which has won seven national titles in the last 10 years, is the No. 1-ranked team in the poll after collecting 17 of a possible 20 first-place votes in the poll. South Carolina-Beaufort drew the other first-place votes to stand No. 2 in the poll.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The first regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on March 18.
