Both of Lewis-Clark State College’s golf teams were ranked in the top 20 of the first regular-season NAIA Golf Coaches’ Top 25 polls, which were announced by the national office on Friday. The Warrior men are listed at No. 17 and the women are No. 20.
The LCSC men earned 184 points after claiming 248 points and being ranked No. 14 in the preseason poll. With two regular season Frontier Conference tournaments down and one to go, the Warriors are third in the league standings with 1,745 total strokes. Rocky Mountain is in first with 1,733 and Carroll is second at 1,736.
The Warrior women garnered 132 points to maintain the No. 20 ranking they received in the preseason poll when they earned 131 points. At 1,876 strokes, LCSC is second in the conference standings behind No. 15-ranked Westminster which has a total of 1,838.
Both Warrior teams will host the Warrior Invitational at the Clarkston Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. On April 9-10, LCSC will host the final regular season conference tournament which will be played at the Lewiston Country Club.
Each poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups. The next polls will be released on March 30.
